Biographical Sketch
Ms. Melinda Marasch is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a social work/mental health consultant. Melinda has dedicated 20 years to her passion in helping others. She specializes in clinical training, supervision and development of programs for therapists and direct care workers. Her expertise includes residential, school & outpatient care, within healthcare (e.g. HIV/AIDS medical case managers, patient navigators), public (e.g. department of human services case workers), and community based organizations. Melinda is a member of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), and has presented numerous trainings across the U.S. on therapeutic approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, self care, mental health issues, de-escalation and more.  

Jesse Yedinak, MPA

Biographical Sketch
Jesse Yedinak holds a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Colorado. Her background includes more than 15 years of human services management and public health advocacy, including directing community-based prevention services, supervising medical case management programs, and organizing the launch of syringe access programs. She brings expertise in program evaluation, supervision, quality assurance, and public health research. Jesse has facilitated training workshops on Medical Case Management and Motivational Interviewing across the U.S.

Learning Objective

1.      Upon completion participants, participants will be able to discuss Medical Self Management (health literacy and adherence) to a colleague.

2.      Upon completion, participants will be able to address health literacy.

3.      Upon completion, the participant will be able to apply MI (PAN-OARS) to address health literacy or adherence with clients.

4.      Upon completion, the participant will be able to clearly define and understand stress and trauma

5.      Upon completion, the participant will be able to explain the dangers of stress/trauma.

6.      Upon completion, the participant will be to incorporate Trauma Informed Care in their treatment.

7.      Upon completion, the participant will understand the MI (PAN-OARS) process.

Proposal Summary:
The Medical Case Management Institute is endorsed by the Professional Association of Social Workers in HIV/AIDS (PASWHA) and is designed to meet this HRSA requirement: “Medical Case Management Services must be provided by trained professionals, including both medically credentialed and other health care staff." (HAB Policy Notice 10-02).

Some of the topics to be covered will be: Best Practices, Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Health Literacy, Adherence and Self Care. The Medical Case Management Certificate is available upon completion of additional online trainings to be offered in the post-conference period. Note: as you probably are already aware, those who register for the Institute will limit their choices of many other conference sessions they will be able to attend.
